Research on reentry outcomes finds that nurture, support, and attachment to family members help to facilitate a successful return to the community and reduce recidivism. However, criminal justice and community-based agencies encounter many barriers to engaging family members. Furthermore, fatherhood programs in particular often struggle with demonstrating the impact of their services from the perspective of the returning fathers as well as their children and co-parents.

During this webinar, FY2015 Strengthening Relationships Between Young Fathers and their Children grantees received information about the grant program, including steps for getting the program started, submission of the Planning and Implementation Guide, and Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) expectations. Technical assistance providers from the National Reentry Resource Center and representatives from OJJDP answered questions and discuss resources that are available to grantees.

The Colson Task Force, established by Congressional mandate, is a nine‐person, bipartisan, blue ribbon panel charged with examining challenges in the federal corrections system and developing practical, data‐driven policy responses. The Task Force refined several policy options and discussed the proposed communications plans. This was a short meeting of Task Force members to review the recommendations, make sure there was a consensus around them, clarify the underlying principles of the report, and identify additional data analysis and research needed for the report.

The Task Force reviewed the draft final report, finalized the content and recommendations, and reviewed the communications plan and next steps.

The Urban Institute serves as the point of contact for the Charles Colson Task Force. In that role, Urban monitors a Task Force email address, through which it fields questions from varying organizations and individuals interested in federal justice system reform. To disseminate information, the project team regularly updated the Colson Task Force website. Urban also responds to media inquiries and general questions from academics and practitioners about the Task Force.

The Colson Task Force, established by Congressional mandate, is a nine‐person, bipartisan, blue ribbon panel charged with examining challenges in the federal corrections system and developing practical, data‐driven policy responses. The Task Force heard remarks from Georgia state criminal justice reform leaders. These individuals discussed and highlighted the lessons learned from the state's justice reinvestment initiative and Georgia's adult sentencing and reentry reforms.
