The second of the biannual RxCheck Governance Board meetings was held in Kansas City, MO (in-person and virtual) on September 24-25, 2024. Twenty-nine of the 37 member PDMPs were represented. The agenda topics at the meeting included:

PDMP TTAC hosted and facilitated the Harold Rogers Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) 2024 National Meeting took place on August 13-15, 2024 in Washington, D.C. Themed “PDMPs: Collaborating to Address the Prescription Drug Crisis,” the meeting was a resounding success. The conference offered valuable insights and fostered collaboration among the attendees, which included experts, policymakers, and stakeholders and with representation from 30 of the 54 PDMPs. The sessions included:

One analyst from Miami attended the annual conference, the most impactful training event of the year for analysts from around the world. Attendees ranged from students to seasoned industry professionals, all with the goal of learning new techniques, strengthening their knowledge, and equipping their department for ongoing success. Among the courses offered were Crime and Intelligence Analysis; Real-World Case Studies; Investigative and Analytical Techniques; Statistical Analysis; Hands-On Computer Training; and ESRI’s ArcPro.

During this unique PSP peer exchange opportunity, five PSP site representatives were able to network at the USMS Headquarters in Arlington, Virginia, to learn about how to leverage their federal partnerships to improve investigations. Attendees discussed resources offered by local USMS offices, crime strategies, community and criminal justice collaborations, crime and displacement investigations, NIBIN, and eTrace.

On August 29, 2024, three Minneapolis attendees visited Jefferson County to tour its Communications Center (Jeffcom). Attendees had the opportunity to learn about Jeffcom’s operations, robust information technology (RapidSOS, Automated Secure Alarm Protocol, computer-aided dispatch) training, hiring, employee retention, and continual innovation.

The Miami Crime Gun Intelligence Center showcased its robust program and highlighted the following topics: machinegun conversion devices; straw purchaser cases; and a comprehensive workflow that spans receiving evidence, documenting and tracing firearms, performing test fires, and entering information into NIBIN. The peer exchange highlighted a phenomenal partnership with ATF that provides analytical support for properly investigating and prosecuting violent firearm offenders and tracking the adjudication of each case.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) hosted 14 representatives from the Knoxville; North Miami, Florida; and Tucson Police Departments to learn about the LAPD’s COMPSTAT process. Participants were exposed to the entirety of the COMPSTAT process, including the COMPSTAT Division command, the Rampart Division, the Chief’s Office, and many other elements, such as crime analysis and Real Time Crime Center support mechanisms.
