This event was hosted by the Office of Justice Programs in partnership with the National Gang Center and National Public Safety Partnership (PSP). In support of the Biden-Harris Administration’s comprehensive strategy to prevent and respond to gun crime and ensure public safety, DOJ is convening experts in a virtual listening session to help create a Community Violence Intervention (CVI) Implementation Checklist that will provide guidance and resources for jurisdictions seeking to implement comprehensive, community-based strategies for preventing violence.

The Middlesex County Sheriff's Office Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) site requested further training on interactions with criminal offenders as well as victims of these crimes. This request was referred to the PSN team.

Partnership for a Safer Cleveland is experienced in the community development field, with specializations in program planning and assessment. They have been deployed to help buildout our knowledge sharing capabilities to highlight the BCJI program. Knowledge sharing is crucial for continued learning and coordination, especially as a means of external communication for LISC Safety & Justice to highlight the local safety efforts we are supporting.

Julie engaged the Chicago BCJI site coordinator in problem solving methodologies around problem businesses located in one of the project's hot spots. Julie has offered additional support in data gathering and analysis, however, the site has not yet finalized data collection from CPD and has encountered challenges around engagement of business management/owners. Ms. Wartell worked previously as a crime analyst with the San Diego Police Department.

BSCC is requesting support in developing a stakeholder survey and report to determine priority areas for Byrne JAG funding. NCJA developed and distributed stakeholder survey for BSCC and upon closure, analyzed and presented results. These results were then shared with BSCC's board during with NCJA supported staff in outlining next steps for support.

American Samoa requested help with their strategic planning process including stakeholder survey and steering committee meeting. American Samoa attended the Strategic Planning 101 meeting as suggested by NCJA. American Samoa has determined that they are going to do stakeholder survey via paper distribution. Once results are collected, NCJA will assist in development of strategic planning and steering committee. They are also doing a community survey via facebook and other social media platforms and will have NCJA develop survey via survey monkey when they are ready to distribute it.

Helping Rhode Island state agency develop stakeholder survey and navigate strategic planning board to ensure agreement on Byrne JAG and CESF spending. We are currently developing their stakeholder survey and will disseminate at the end of this month

Held weekly SP TTA meetings for the month of may through second week of June 2021. Provided direct assistance to SAA and JAG manager regarding their strategic planning needs and their backlog of JAG funds held up due to litigation. Provided them with training materials and documents to assist in their strategic plan development. They will be revamping their entire grants administration and strategic planning process in 2021 and will reconvene with us in August of 2021. Additionally, was able to answer some questions for them regarding NCEs.
