Community Policing

LISC met with new program coordinator and core management team to review grant efforts and to discuss next steps and will be attending the mid-grant review meeting taking place on 7/22/19. LISC was able to meet new program coordinator and the new community police officer and visit both hot spot locations. Savanna Landing completed perimeter fencing and has secured gate in place. Inside residents indicate a greater sense of safety versus previous years. At the Kwick Stop there was a noticeable environmental change as a result of the nuisance property ordinance.

The Bureau of Justice Assistanc requested assistance through BJA NTTAC to provide training and technical assistance to the two cities who will be hosting the Democratic and Republican National Conventions in 2020: Charlotte, NC and Milwaukee, WI. Kevin Preslan was selected to facilitate the assistance and conducted a two-and-half day onsite visit with the agency in January 2018. Kevin Preslan will be developing a report with recommendations specific to training on best practices/lessons learned from previous conventions on a variety of grant administration and audit topics as needed.

The Wichita, Kansas Public Safety Partnership Site requested travel support for representatives to attend the Crime Analysis Community of Practice meeting. BJA NTTAC provided travel support to two representatives from Wichita PD to attend the Crime Analysis Community of Practice meeting from September 23-24, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois. 

Tulsa, Oklahoma Public Safety Partnerships Site requested travel support for representatives to attend the Crime Analysis Community of Practice Meeting. BJA NTTAC provided travel support to two representatives from Tulsa PD to attend the Crime Analysis Community of Practice meeting from September 23-24, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois. 

Toledo, Ohio PSP requested travel support for representatives to attend the Crime Analysis Community of Practice Meeting. BJA NTTAC provided travel support to one representative from Toledo PD to attend the meeting from September 23 - 23, 2010 in Chicago, IL. 

Miami PSP requested scholarship support for one traveler to attend the Crime Analysis Community of Practice Meeting in Chicago, IL on September 23-24, 2020. The traveler attended the event, but was unresponsive.

Memphis, Tennesse PSP requested scholarship support for one traveler to attend the Crime Analysis Community of Practice meeting in Chicago, IL. The requestor withdrew the request.

Kansas City, Kansas Public Safety Partnerships Site requested travel support for representatives to attend the Crime Analysis Community of Practice Meeting. BJA NTTAC provided travel support to two representatives from the Board of Police Commissioners to attend the Crime Analysis Community of Practice meeting from September 23-24, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois.

Indianapolis, Indiana Public Safety Partnership Site requested travel support for representatives to attend the Crime Analysis Community of Practice meeting. BJA NTTAC provided travel support to two representatives from Indianapolis PD to attend the Crime Analysis Community of Practice meeting from September 23-24, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois. 

The Davenport, Iowa Police Department, as part of the Davenport National Public Safety Partnership site, requested travel support for representatives to attend the Crime Analysis Community of Practice meeting. BJA NTTAC provided travel support for three representatives from the Davenport PSP site to attend the meeting from September 23-24, 2019 in Chicago, Illinois.
