Tribal Justice

This course is designed to be a proactive, comprehensive, training experience that fosters collaboration among tribal, state, federal, and local governments. The class will train and equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify existing tribal justice challenges for the purpose of strengthening partnerships to more effectively implement criminal justice initiatives in their organizations.

Tribal Justice Planning Mentors will facilitate training with members of the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians using the Tribal Justice System Planning Process curriculum and continue to develop their Tribal justice strategic plan.

TJSPP Mentor met with the tribe's justice system planning committee to assist them with their justice system strategic plan.

NCJTC will provide onsite technical assistance for Phase 3 training using the Tribal Justice System Strategic Planning curriculum and continue to develop their tribal justice system strategic plan.

The 2015 IACP Annual Conference Smaller Agency Track was held October 24-27 in Chicago, Illinois. Fifteen workshops tailored to the needs of smaller law enforcement agencies were offered on a variety of management and administrative law enforcement topics.

On November 4, 2015 Jerry Gardner and Kelly Stoner presented an overview of VAWA Special Domestic Violence Criminal Jurisdiction at the Office of Violence Against Women tribal consultation.

This 24 hour course was designed for law enforcement officers who are patrolling major highways, city streets in all parts of their communities, including all rural areas. This course has been designed to address the issues, in which they are commonly encountered by the officer during a criminal interdiction encounter.
