The NRTAC staff hosted a virtual meeting over Zoom to deliver the CGIC recommendations to the Los Angeles County, California, CGIC. Upon delivery of the recommendations, the Los Angeles County CGIC team was prepared to discuss implementation plans for each recommendation.

The Maryland SAA's office reached out asking for support in analyzing a survey that they had written and distributed to help them determine Byrne SCIP potential funding priorities. We produced a comprehensive analysis report that helped the office understand stakeholder perspectives across various potential SCIP priority areas.

The National Policing Institute and the NRTAC team were invited by the ATF to attend the third annual ATF Chiefs of Police Executive Forum on Crime Guns. NRTAC personnel set up an exhibition booth to present the work of the Institute and showcase available CGIC resources to conference attendees. Additionally, Alan Hughes from the NRTAC and Kristie Brackens from the BJA participated in an informational session to inform attendees of BJA’s grant funding opportunities, including BJA’s local CGIC grant.

The Alabama SAA's office reached out asking for support in identifying their funding priority areas for JAG. With their guidance, we developed, helped administer, and analyzed a survey for them that highlighted potential priority areas after administering the survey to a wide array of stakeholders.

Provided direct TTA to Kentucky SAA's office as they requested support around identifying priorities for JAG funding for the upcoming year. We worked with them to write, conduct, and analyze a survey to help them in this effort.

NRTAC subject matter experts Joshua May and Jessica Ellefritz conducted a site assessment of the Austin Police Department (APD) Crime Gun Intelligence Center (CGIC) on June 5-6, 2023. Mr. May and Ms. Ellefritz conducted interviews with individual members of the CGIC according to their roles in the CGIC workflow. The team interviewed individuals involved in steps two through five of the CGIC process, including evidence recovery and processing, NIBIN entry, investigation, analysis, performance measure tracking, and criminal justice stakeholder collaboration.
