From 05/21 through 05/24, 2023 NJC staff attended the National Consortium on Racial and Ethnic Fairness in the Courts Annual Summit in Seattle, WA. NJC staff networked with tribal and non-tribal judges, elected officials, and service providers to explain resources and TTA provided by NTJC.
From 05/03 through 05/04/2023, NJC staff and SMEs planned, attended and presented at the American Indian Justice Conference, presenting a conference workshop and networked with tribal and non-tribal judges to explain resources and TTA provided by NTJC.
From 04/24 through 4/28, 2023 NJC staff attended the 35th Institute on Violence, Abuse, and Trauma International Summit, Honolulu, HI. NJC staff and SMEs presented a conference workshop and networked with tribal and non-tribal judges and service providers to explain resources and TTA provided by NTJC.
From 04/17 through 04/18, 2023 – NJC staff attended the Federal Bar Association, Indian Law Section Annual Conference, Albuquerque, NM. NJC staff networked with tribal judges, elected officials, and Indian law attorneys to explain resources and TTA provided by NTJC.
From 04/02 – 05, 2023 NJC staff attended the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) Annual Conference, Reno, NV. NJC staff presented a conference workshop and networked with tribal and non-tribal judges to explain resources and TTA provided by NTJC.
On 03/07/2023 NJC staff presented a conference workshop at the CTAS New Grantee Orientation and networked with tribal judges, tribal service providers and non-judge tribal elected officials to explain resources and TTA provided by NTJC.
Summary of VACA that will live on a CSG Justice Center webpage to provide a landing page for DOCs to learn more about VACA, its goals and objectives, and how to get involved and gain access to the engagement questionnaire and other products/resources.
03-13-2023: Zoom meeting with Sac and Fox of Mississippi in Iowa to address technical assistance request. Two people from the Tribe participated in the meeting along with two representatives from TJI. The Tribe needed assistance with elder abuse codes and laws. TJI provided examples of elder abuse codes and resources to assist the Tribe to move forward with developing their code.
On 06/12/2023 NJC staff provided office-based TA via email regarding non-attorney advocates practicing in tribal courts to Mashpee Wampanoag Tribal Court.
On 06-07-2023 NJC staff provided office-based TA via telephone regarding civil arrest warrant procedures to Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Police Department.
