Provision of Resources/Systems

Applicant Request: Modern policing has increased the need for efficiency and reliability in computers and equipment. As most requirements call for departments to be paperless, the technology of an in-car laptop is critical in investigations, gathering intelligence, and sharing information with surrounding agencies. The East Hazel Crest Police Department (EHCPD) has identified and acknowledged our department's necessity of updating laptops.

Applicant Request: We are a very small agency with very little resources. We are seeking this award to help with providing the much needed equipment to outfit our small department so that we may properly serve our community. Without this award, our department will not be able to provide the level of service that this community desperately needs and deserves. Utilizing the Radar systems will provide proactive policing in the community, along with the Nartec kits for evidence identification and collection. The MDT's will provide Computer Aided Dispatch to each vehicle.

Applicant Request: The City of Prescott has a population of approximately 3,200. We are a poverty-stricken community and drugs have a large presence here. The Prescott Police Department has had nineteen drug related stops in 2021 and some of these involved minors. We currently work diligently to fight the drugs in our community and we feel a K-9 Unit would aid us in that fight. The entire City of Prescott and surrounding communities would benefit from this.

Applicant Request: We are hoping to restart our K9 unit. We have not had a K9 since the Spring of 2017.

Per incarcerated student's request after an online panel, I held a virtual Q & A meeting with incarcerated students around higher education in prison and after at AVCF in Colorado. It was facilitated by Colorado DOC and organized and co-presented with Open Campus reporter Charlotte West.

The Justice Research Academy Smart Suite Collection currently contains five different online learning units on "Communicating Research Results" totaling over five hours of online/on-demand trainings covering such topics as writing research reports, maintaining a digital presence, using Tableau software to make data available online, and maximizing the effective use of tables and figures in research reports.

Initiated the design of the Community Safety Solutions Center website, "safetysolutions.org", which will host program design and implementation resources for community violence prevention and intervention professionals.
