National Program or Policy Advancement

The Moss Group (TMG) piloted a training program for the Illinois Department of Corrections on ?"Culture in Corrections?" to support a healthy correctional environment that incorporates compliance with PREA standards and promotes sexual safety.? This pilot training was comprised of 8 different modules that focused on topics such as ?"Professional Boundaries and Communication?", ?"Responding to Staff Sexual Abuse?", and ?"Staff Wellness?".?

During this reporting period, TIPS coaches have been working with their grantee sites to develop Final Project Planning Packages. Coaches met with sites on a regular basis to review draft documents and provide feedback on each sites project plans. Once the site and coach finalize their Final Project Planning Package the materials are submitted to the PRC for internal review.

CSG Justice Center staff met with MI DOC in a follow-up meeting to discuss the agenda edits and solidify plans. MI DOC will reach out to partners and participants and set up times for CSG to meet with them during the site visit. 

CSG Justice Center staff met with PA DOC and partners to discuss the agenda for an upcoming virtual site visit. CSG staff provided a sample agenda with topics, speakers, and times as well as dates potential dates. These items were discussed and MI DOC took the sample agenda and made edits to be discussed at a follow-up meeting.

CSG Justice Center and partners planned for the up coming MI DOC site visit and discussed roles, the agenda, and questions to be asked. 

CSG Justice Center staff conducted a three-day site visit via Zoom with MI DOC. Over the course of the site visit staff met with lead staff, partners from Fresh Coast Alliance, and Goodwill Industries, as well as program participants. From the site visit, staff learned more about their collaborative partnership, how participants are referred and move through the program and the role each partner plays.

CSG Justice Center staff and partners debriefed after the site visit to discuss areas that MI DOC is doing really well in and areas for improvement to mention during the next TA call. 

CSG Justice Center staff met with Susan Burke and Dot Faust (NAPE) to discuss their withdrawal from the project. NAPE was refocusing and prioritizing their resources and they will no longer be able to support the project. 

CSG Justice Center staff met with Amy Murphy of George Mason University to discuss different approaches for the final guide of the ISI project. We also discussed topics to cover, stakeholder needed, and overall approach to the virtual site visits as well as how to engage our partners more efficiently on this project.
