This workshop will introduce participants to the Community Supervision Resource Center (CSRC) managed by the Center for Effective Public Policy (CEPP) with funding and thought support from the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA). The community supervision field has made advances over the last several decades. However, pretrial, probation, and parole supervision agencies need more support to continue to improve outcomes for the people served and their communities.
Robert Sand facilitated a breakout session at the NACRJ Conference in July 2024. The presentation was very well received.
Practices like multitasking and not wearing seat belts while driving place officers at significantly greater risk, so why do officers to do them? Often, these actions are directly related to organizational culture, training, and peer anecdotes, which can override agency training, policies, and procedures. This presentation will engage participants in a lively discussion about some common misconceptions in law enforcement and draw upon research and instructor testimonials to provide actionable steps attendees and their agencies can take to improve officer safety on the roadways.
Delivered three presentations at the ACA Conference: Safety Starts with You, Burnt out and Overwhelmed, and Boomers to Zoomers.
