Over 80% of all people under supervision in the criminal justice system have experienced trauma or show symptoms of trauma. Additionally, probation, parole and victim service providers encounter a high percentage of victims that are experiencing trauma. In underserved and Native American communities, it is critically important for criminal justice professionals to have skills to recognize and address historical trauma, generalized trauma, especially when there are limited services.

BJA NTTAC Releases a RFP for Technical Assistance for the Rhode Island DOC and Parole Board

On January 20, 2016, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) National Training and Technical Assistance Center (NTTAC) released a request for proposal (RFP) seeking a provider to work with the Rhode Island Department of Corrections (DOC) and the Rhode Island Parole Board.

The provider selected will be expected to accomplish the following objectives:

Met with Jay Sanders and Monique Grier to discuss the expectations of P&I Guide Section 4. Reviewed the requirement of drafting sustainable recommendations and highlighted the importance of ensuring quality assurance in all areas of implementation. Discussed next steps and upcoming site visit (5/27 and 5/28).
