The Cleveland Police Department has been in their consent decree for nine years now and they are working hard to reach compliance. They are looking for support specifically in the areas of search and seizure, use of force, and working with civilian oversight agencies. Cleveland is interested in learning from peer agencies such as the Albuquerque Police Department, and they are also interested in being connected with subject matter experts (SME) who can help guide them in their process towards achieving compliance.

The Town of Brighton has been collecting perceived race/ethnicity data during traffic stops since the middle of 2020. While they have put out summary reports of this information in the past, they have not had the internal capacity to analyze the data to understand its meaning. Chief Catholdi’s goals are twofold: (1) understand whether the data his agency collects indicates a pattern of racial disparities in the agency’s traffic stops and (2) if so, identify potential causes and solutions to address those disparities.

IIR received approval from BJA program staff to host two in-person Safer Schools Roundtables (previously referred to as Safe Place Roundtables), one with school staff and administrators and another with subject-matter researchers. The overall goal of these Roundtables is to gather essential input toward the development of resources that promote collaboration with law enforcement SRO programs to improve school safety while avoiding unnecessary student contact with the criminal justice system.

The Bureau of Justice Programs (BJA) State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) Information Sharing Technical Assistance Program is a collaborative effort with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), in partnership with the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and experts from the state and local community—including the Global Justice Information Sharing Initiative (Global) and the Criminal Intelligence Coordinating Council (CICC).
