Aimed towards newer and more inexperienced prosecutors of capital and complex homicides, this trial advocacy program will go over the essentials, providing an immersive courtroom environment for attendees to hone their trial skills. Topics will include voir dire, opening, direct and indirect examination, expert witnesses, recanting/difficult witnesses.

The goal of this meeting is to provide cadre members of the Law Enforcement Resilience Training Program with the information, preparation, and support they need to succeed as trainers in the field. We want to ensure that our Cadre members thoroughly understand the expectation, skills, and the most effective way to teach the resilience training program to the field. This training will provide participants with the opportunity to revisit critical skills, learn best implementation practices, and participate in teach-back moments.

During the July to September 2023 reporting period, IIR continued to reference the 28 CFR Part 23 Data dashboard to provide weekly updates to BJA, sharing number of users, certificates earned, and training completions by state in real time.

During the July 1 through September 30, 2023, reporting period, 3,761 new users were vetted and approved to complete the training. 4,016 certificates of completion were issued. This totals 110,914 certificates of completion earned since the online training program’s inception in 2009. IIR continued its work to maintain the 28 CFR Part 23 website and LMS to ensure proper performance and efficient user experiences when accessing and taking the online training.

Provide fiscal support, technical assistance, and capacity building for community-based organizations. This work includes coaching on financial documentation procedures, pre-auditing all expenses, processing invoices, providing reimbursements, assisting with cost allocation methodology, and training in fund accounting.

Provide individual coaching on data entry, data tracking, and outcomes reporting utilizing a community-oriented database, CaseMGR, to track the interventions of community-based organizations, the accomplishments of the participants they serve, and the impact they are having in their communities. In particular, this work supports direct service by considering what the data tells us about participant needs and achievements, utilizing that information to design effective program models, and communicating those outcomes to funders and other stakeholders.
