Engage in discussion with tribal and state law enforcement and corrections personnel to aid in the development of culturally responsive practices for working with tribal populations experiencing trauma and substance use disorders. Summarize key components and benefits of a law enforcement led intervention and deflection program. Discuss ways to build tribal community partnerships to provide comprehensive resources and services to tribal members in the criminal justice system. Deploy action planning steps to implement culturally responsive law enforcement and corrections practices.

On March 5th, 2024, Center staff hosted a regional convening in collaboration with the Eugene Community Court. The agenda included a presentation by the Eugene Community Court, a session regarding Risk-Need-Responsivity theory and research, a Restorative Justice session by consultants from Collective Justice, a presentation by Red Hook Community Justice Center around community courts, housing, and holistic services, as well as a collaborative and interactive responsive interventions session. The attendees were able to observe court at Eugene Community Court the following day.
The Philadelphia Police Department (PPD) seeks to develop a Peer Support Program for its officers but requires technical assistance to identify the essential elements for program development, implementation, and sustainability.
The NRTAC staff visited the Pinal County (AZ) Attorney’s Office (PCAO) local CGIC. NRTAC staff interviewed individual members of the CGIC according to their role in the CGIC workflow. The team interviewed individuals involved in every stage of the CGIC process, including evidence recovery and processing, NIBIN entry, investigation, analysis, prosecution, and performance measure tracking.
