This Web event is a discussion of ambush terrorist and targeted violence attacks on law enforcement to increase awareness and the implementation of countermeasures to avoid these types of attacks. Even though trends indicate that the total number of officers feloniously killed has declined for nearly a 30-year period, the percentage of officer deaths involved in surprise attacks has steadily increased.

Law enforcement officers understand that they will be the primary first responders to "bang" and "right of bang" moments of terrorist and targeted violence attacks. Unfortunately, we continue t live under the threat of terrorist or targeted violence attacks. Fortunately, we have learned a lot from various case studies and after-action reviews about optimal law enforcement tactics for responding to and recovering from an attack.
