Outgoing State Drug Court Coordinator, Jeff Kushner, contacted Wellness Court Specialist Kristina Pacheco in late 2023 giving notice of his departure in 2024 and a request to partner with the incoming State Coordinator, Jake Lapke, for the 2024 Montana Treatment Court Conference on September 9-11, 2024 in Helena, Montana. American Probation and Parole Association (APPA) through a partnership with the Institute for Intergovernmental Research (IIR), in support of the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s Student, Teachers, and Officers Preventing (STOP) School Violence Program, hosted a webinar to educate juvenile probation officers, and other stakeholders, on their role in preventing and reducing violence in K-12 school populations.

The NCJA Center for Justice Planning and Data Center, in collaboration with Connecticut’s SAA Office (OPM) and their Statistical Analysis Center, is spearheading the development of the state’s 2026 strategic plan. This initiative includes a robust statewide survey designed to engage public safety and community-based organizations, including law enforcement, rural organizations, victim services, and violence prevention programs.
