Objective 5: Develop and run a national campaign to educate criminal justice agency leaders, policymakers, and the public about the Justice Counts metrics. CSG Justice Center staff also worked internally to develop data validation standards for Publisher and to improve the internal tracking the data being shared.??

Objective 6: Provide intensive TA to 10 states, supporting the adoption and use of the Justice Counts metrics to drive decision-making. CSG Justice Center staff completed outreach to participating agencies via email to include an update on progress on Justice Counts participation per each state.??

Monthly Updates:

In September, round 1 briefs (GA, MO, RI) were approved by BJA and the RI brief was published on the JRI website. Furthermore, CSG Justice Center staff continued to work internally with leadership on revisions for the round 2 briefs (VT, MT, WY). CJI and CSG Justice Center staff met to discuss updates on the state briefs and JRI website updates.

Priority Area 1: Work with state agencies to receive and analyze data to identify drivers of Arkansas's high recidivism rates and understand how recidivism contributes to overall crime and incarceration rates.

September 11: CSG Justice Center staff met with staff at the Northeast Arkansas Community Correction Center (Phillip Glover [Supervisor], Jacqueline Boyd [Correctional Officer], Andre Harris [Correctional Officer], Rebecca Whitaker [HR Coordinator], Laurie Ray [Program Coordinator], Martha Washington [Treatment Coordinator], Porcelain Hill [Counselor], Pamela Walker [Counselor], Joseph McArthur [Treatment Supervisor]) to learn about facility operations and programming. (9 people representing 1 agency)

September 11: CSG Justice Center staff conducted an anonymous focus group with individuals incarcerated at the Northeast Arkansas Community Correction Center to learn about their experience at the facility and their thoughts on the programming provided. (10 participants representing 1 agency)

September 11: CSG Justice Center staff toured the Mississippi County Work Release Center and met with James Dycus (Deputy Warden) and Katrina Patterson (Sergeant) to learn about the work release program and facility operations. (2 people representing 1 agency)

September 11: CSG Justice Center staff met with probation and parole officers at the Osceola Community Supervision Office, under anonymity, to hear their insights on the challenges they face within community supervision. (3 people representing 1 agency)

September 16: CSG Justice Center staff attended the September meeting of the Legislative Recidivism Reduction Task Force to deliver a presentation about crime and arrest data in Arkansas. (16 participants representing 14 agencies)
