The District of Columbia Department of Corrections submitted a TTA request to obtain psychosocial assessment tools that are considered best practices for SUD programs in justice settings. AHP sent the program a list of resources regarding assessments and screenings for the justice system, and trauma-informed justice settings.

A virtual site visit was hosted by CSG Justice Center on September 20, 2023 to assist the FY20 SCA SUD Safer Foundation Grant Program accomplish the following goals to engage grant stakeholders including Illinois Department of Corrections in a working group to outline processes for treatment and transitional services for participants in the grant program; participate in training and discussion with Alternative Solutions Associates, Inc.

The Oregon Health Authority program submitted a TTA request for the possibility of BJA presenting at their full day workshop for the Oregon State Sheriff's Association Jail Command Council regarding funding opportunities and sources. There was no virtual option for this workshop. AHP sent federal funding announcements information and additional resources to the program.

During this site visit CGS Justice Staff conducted a site visit with Mountain Comprehensive Care Center.  On the first day, CSG Justice Center staff provided an overview of the site visit and toured the Letcher County Jail. During the first day of the site visit; we had a discussion on their  referral, screening and assessment procedures,  reentry planning and community handoff protocols.

Webinar two will dig deeper into the clinical challenges and treatments introduced in the first webinar, providing an in-depth discussion of key issues in treating individuals with stimulant use disorders, behavioral strategies with evidence of effectiveness, the status of medications, and major priorities of engagement and retention in treatment.

This webinar will cover the ever-changing landscape of stimulants and the epidemiology of stimulant use. Dr. Rawson will discuss the prevalence of different stimulants, rural and urban overdose death data, and emergency department visits. He will describe the effects of stimulants on the brain, behavior, and cognition, as well as acute conditions resulting from stimulant use. He will conclude the webinar with an overview of clinical challenges and a high-level summary of current treatments.

Although first responder deflection initiatives focused on responding to community opioid use have historically been started and led by law enforcement, the number of fire and emergency medical service-led deflection efforts has grown. This webinar will highlight two fire departments’ programs in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin: the City of Milwaukee Fire Department and the West Allis Fire Department.
