The Metropolitan Nashville, Tennessee Police Department (MNPD) requested assistance to develop the technical capacity of eight precinct-level crime analyst for patrol officers in the use of geographic information systems (GIS) mapping software. Stewart Bruce was selected as the provider and conducted a site visit to MNPD from August 27 –29, 2018, and assisted the CAP officers in creating hot spot maps for high-crime areas, developing an improved understanding of other uses for GIS and crime analysis, and leveraging crime analysis for tactical use.

The Department of Corrections has numerous training needs and desires, however, the department has prioritized our top six training needs that we would like to request and pursue should the NTTAC be able to assist us. We are looking for on-site opportunities that will enhance the opportunity for corrections, medical, and mental health staff to able to break away from the day to day operations and focus on the training being provided by having on-site classroom opportunities.

The Navarro County Court requested an on site evaluation of processes of defendants from arrest, prosecution, adjudication, and final disposition in the Navarro County Courthouse, Sheriff's department, City police agency, magistrations. Fulfillment and provider selection is pending.

Onsite Technical assitance to public information and community out reach staff re developing and implementing effective communication strategies employing social media tools to enhance communiuty outreach, re-brand ABQ policing, and build particpation in citizen advisory councils and other community input vehicles. These efforts will help with the flow of communication, to gather information to help solve cases , improve recruitment efforts, and promote oficer safety.

Our department is working toward thoroughly integrating data driven approaches into decision making at all levels of the department. We have been producing regular analytical products for a few years to support this goal. The operations bureau and the command staff have over this time been evolving their protocols toward a model that allows them to be increasingly receptive and responsive to incoming information provided by crime analysis. As far as crime analysis is concerned we have a great deal of room to grow and are aware of areas in which we could improve our analytical capability.
