Title: Connection through Deflection: Obtaining Buy-In and Engagement from Officers, Leaders, and the Community
Cities United's Annual Convening is the gathering place for all of us working to affect the lives of those most impacted by gun violence. We attract leaders from across the country, uniting under the goal of making the lives of Black men and boys and their families safe, healthy, and hopeful. Our three days together are full of learning, sharing, growing, and collaborating.
Working with Sandstorm marketing firm, we will develop messages designed to resonate with difficult to reach/difficult to engage groups to help promote more diverse and inclusive juries
Juyl-Dec. 2024:Following an open RFP process we contracted with Sandstorm to create a message and conduct related market testing. That messaging and testing is complete, and we are currently working with them to develop the final images and materials that will be a part of a messaging toolkit.
We are working with the North Carolina Indigent Defense Services as well as North Carolina Central University to examine how to increase public defense workforces in that state. This will include surveying attorneys and law students about attitudes, interests, and perceived barriers to careers in public defense
Fund Keystone and Justice Systems Partners to convene focus groups
Correspondence with potential and actual applicants including responding to questions, working with respondents to correct missing or incorrect items resolved before screening, communicating award determinations, and providing scoring for those who requested it.
Informational requests received regarding the VALOR resilience program and the Supporting Growth After Tragedy training program.
Created and maintaining accurate listserv of grantee contact information.
1. Conduct outreach activities to communicate Global-supported priorities, solutions, and recommendations and collaborate with BJA and other partners to coordinate the design and delivery of TTA to the field regarding awareness and implementation of recommended solutions.

In May 2024 the TA Center met with 66 carryover grantees (one of them twice).
