In this fourth and final FY22 SCA CSCR LC session, RI International discussed the benefits of collaboration between crisis response systems and community stakeholders including law enforcement, health care providers, schools, and community-based organizations. RI International will outline strategies for building relationships and coordination with the crisis response organizations and collaborative initiatives within their communities that can meet the needs of people with behavioral health and other needs reentering from placement in a residential or correctional facility.

A virtual site visit was hosted by CSG Justice Center on September 20, 2023 to assist the FY20 SCA SUD Safer Foundation Grant Program accomplish the following goals to engage grant stakeholders including Illinois Department of Corrections in a working group to outline processes for treatment and transitional services for participants in the grant program; participate in training and discussion with Alternative Solutions Associates, Inc.

This convening brings together Addressing the Needs of Incarcerated Parents and Their Minor Children grantees from across the country. Over the day and a half scheduled, we will cover topics that grantees have identified as a need for their programs or wish to learn more about.

"To offer training and support to these grantees on a national level, BJA, with the support of its technical assistance provider The Council of State Governments Justice Center (CSGJC), convened a National Crisis Stabilization and Community Reentry Program Symposium on September 13th and 14th, 2023.

RI International discussed the benefits of connecting youth and adults to available crisis stabilization options (such as crisis receiving centers and crisis stabilization units) and post-crisis community support services. RI International highlighted the importance of providing connections to peer support and peer-led crisis response teams. Grantees learned how building meaningful relationships with crisis system entities that support long-term recovery planning improve outcomes for program participants and reduce contact with the criminal justice system.
