Swatting—making fraudulent emergency calls about serious threats—has increasingly impacted schools and first responders nationwide. These and other hoax threats negatively affect school climate and perceptions of school safety and are often felt throughout entire communities.

In this roundtable discussion, you will hear from a school-based team that has recently dealt with a swatting incident. You will learn how they addressed the threat at the moment, ensured the community was informed, and improved their existing operations plans.

Bullying tips are commonly triaged in Anonymous Reporting Systems (ARS). Because of their prevalence, it’s essential that school staff are prepared to respond to bullying tips and address root causes.

In this webinar, the conclusion of a two-part series, experts share upstream practices that will help schools reduce instances of bullying. Additionally, panelists discuss best practices for involving school staff and broaching conversations with students. By the end of the webinar, attendees will leave with examples of tangible bullying responses and clear ways to act on ARS tips.

The National Center for School Safety provides one-on-one technical assistance to STOP grantees. This Intensive TA has been offered since January 2021, and is provided to select agencies requiring more assistance. The Detroit Association of Black Organizations (DABO) was one of these agencies. TA Specialists have been in contact with DABO since 3/2/2022, with their intake meeting occurring on 4/1/2022. There have been 3 additional follow-up meetings and 1 occurred during the current reporting period.

TA Specialists have been in contact with Justice Innovation since 10/31/2022, with their intake meeting occurring on 11/23/2022. There have been 7 additional follow-up meetings. 3 of these follow-up meetings occurred within the current reporting period.
