During this review period, NYC DOC, the Special Considerations Unit (SCU) unit and proper housing for LGBTI inmates was discussed. PREA audits were discussed. There are 7 total facilities; the agency would have to do 3 facilities by August 2025, to satisfy the 1/3 of facilities audited each year. A discussion about finding an audit and developing an RFP was had. The agency contact will draft an RFP. An example of a contract was provided along with information to submit the audit RFP to the PRC to send out to all DOJ certified auditors.

The grant for Los Angeles County Probation Department was closed during this reporting period in September 2023. In this reporting period, the Los Angeles County Probation Department (LACPD) has continued to wrap up the final pieces of their grant. During this reporting period LACPD printed several materials, including brochures and PREA education signs, to ensure they have enough stock to carry them through after the grant period ends.

PRC staff attended the National Partnership for Juvenile Services conference September 3-6, 2023 to introduce our agency and services to members of the NPJS. In 2004, the Council for Educators of At-Risk and Delinquent Youth (CEARDY), the Juvenile Justice Trainers Association (JJTA), the National Association for Juvenile Correctional Agencies (NAJCA), and the National Juvenile Detention Association (NJDA) merged their respective membership organizations under one operational structure. The resulting organization is the National Partnership for Juvenile Services (NJPS).

The PRC OAS team recently hosted a Q&A session where participants were provided with an opportunity to ask any questions about the PREA Online Audit System. The OAS team further shared the latest updates on the system's features that were introduced during the previous quarter and provided insights on what users can expect to see in the upcoming months.

Staff with PRC presented information on PREA Implementation within Juvenile Justice Agencies and Facilities at Meetings conducted by the Council of Juvenile Justice Administrators. PRC Staff Director Dana Shoenberg and PRC Staff Senior Program Manager, Teresa Stroud presented.

The PRC supported a webinar presented by BJA staff to detail all the financial and deliverable reporting requirements in the JustGrants and ASAP systems to ensure the grantees can easily access their funds for reimbursement. The orientation covers requirements, access and contact information to ensure timely reporting and deadlines are met. The PRC provided the technical platform and assistance, hosting the webinar, recording it and making it available to grantees for review if they were unable to attend in person.

Following the late fall award of grants for the BJA Site-based Implementation Grant, all awardees were convened for a training sponsored by the PRC and attended with participation from BJA and PMO staff who work on the grant. Also in attendance and making contributions were coaches from PRC partners on the grant, including Just Detention International, Activating Change, and The Moss Group. Grantees were informed about the need for grant-related deliverables including budgets and Implementation plans.
