The state created the Modernized Operations through Data and Evidence-based Restoration Now (MODERN) Justice Task Force to better understand and address the drivers of local jail populations and associated growing costs in OK.​

Following discussions about the 2020 legislative audit and CJI’s subsequent analysis, the Utah
Department of Corrections (UDC) established two workgroups – one focused on reentry and the other
on case management – to address inefficiencies and improve the implementation of evidence-based
practices. Related to this effort, the agency requested further information on caseload ratio data in
other states. This document serves as a response to this request.

Mississippi’s Department of Corrections (MDOC) and the Crime and Justice Institute (CJI) have partnered to
provide training in MDOC’s Risk and Needs Assessment. The assessment was developed by CJI in collaboration
with MDOC in 2018, and staff were trained on how to use the tool as well as provide training themselves. The
current train-the-trainer event was intended to reach a new audience of trainers statewide.

Mississippi’s Department of Corrections (MDOC) and the Crime and Justice Institute (CJI) have partnered to
provide training on Effective Case Management. This train-the-trainer event is intended to reach a new audience
of trainers statewide.

A virtual training was conducted on November 7, 2024 in order to prepare for the train-the-trainer, which was
held in person in Gulfport, MS from November 18-22, 2024. Staff from MDOC Community Corrections and
Institutions received this training.

The purpose of this report is to highlight each agency’s Rural Violent Crime Reduction Initiative (RVCRI) program, program successes, lessons learned, and sustainability planning. This report will act as the closeout report for each agency's program. It will be no longer than two pages. It can be used as marketing materials for the RVCRI program and a mechanism for the agency to show the value of the program to its community. Each report will be posted on the RVCRI website on each agency’s site profile.

• “Trends in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Their Implications for Law Enforcement” outlines the evolution of UAVs from recreational and commercial devices to tools increasingly used by malicious actors. It highlights the three most common criminal and terrorist applications of UAVs and discusses key technological advancements that will further enhance their capabilities.
