H.E.A.T. (Habilitation Empowerment Accountability Therapy) is a promising substance use intervention specifically designed for young African American men. Data in Missouri shows that their drug courts are not reaching this population and they want to explore implementing H.E.A.T. more widely across the state through teleservices. Center staff worked with a representative of H.E.A.T. and the statewide drug court coordinator of Missouri, Angela Plunkett to implement this program.

CSG Justice Center staff conducted a strategic planning session with DJJ leadership and Research to help develop reentry performance measures and quality assurance as it connects to the agency's new re-integration policy and procedure manual.

CSG Justice Center staff conducted a site visit to FY16 Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction to attend kickoff event. The goal for the event was to engage supervisors and officers in the development process for the JIYA Initiative.

CSG Justice Center staff met with VOA Oregon staff and partners to support them in preparing for project implementation. Site visit goals included: 

·        Identify ways to build upon the successes of existing VOAOR programs and enhance culturally responsive programming to meet the needs of the target population
·        Identify potential gaps and challenges in program implementation and how the NRRC can best provide implementation support
·        Strengthen/build upon implementation action plan with key deliverables and performance measures

CSG Justice Center staff conducted a site visit with grantee in order to determine how the grantee could implement the CPT training described in their grant proposal, how the grantee could resolve the low enrollment/completion outcomes, and how to address staffing needs.

CSG JC staff met with Policy Research Associates/NCMHJJ to reflect on the overall joint technical assistance experience and partnership, and identified some clear lessons learned through the support we received from PRA in being able to support grant recipients in improving behavioral health outcomes for youth in contact with the juvenile justice system.

The first day of the site visit was devoted to reviewing the P&I Guide and working through it with the grantee, discussing and finalizing the program plan in preparation for submission to OJJDP.

The second day of the site visit was meant to be a meeting between the grantee, the Navajo Nation DOC, and Kayenta Township leadership. On the day of the meeting, the Navajo Nation DOC and Kayanta Township leadership cancelled the meeting. _
