Review of PREA Screening Tool for juveniles meeting compliance
CSG Justice Center staff met with VOA Oregon staff and partners to support them in preparing for project implementation. Site visit goals included:
· Identify ways to build upon the successes of existing VOAOR programs and enhance culturally responsive programming to meet the needs of the target population
· Identify potential gaps and challenges in program implementation and how the NRRC can best provide implementation support
· Strengthen/build upon implementation action plan with key deliverables and performance measures
RFK and CSG Justice Center staff participated in DYS's task force meeting to provide TTA around the next steps identified and key changes through the community supervision implementation process.
CSG Justice Center staff conducted a site visit to the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services to discuss the challenges and opportunities to address focus areas of the grant at the local level, best practices in reducing penetration of low-risk youth in the juvenile justice system, reducing the use of detention, and reducing racial and ethnic disparities.
CSG Justice Center staff met with the CJC, DYRS, and ODS leadership teams and discussed the goals and priorities for the Smart on Juvenile Justice Planning grant and next steps in the planning process.
CSG Justice Center staff conducted a site visit DE to support the implementation efforts of the statewide plan and as such, met with key stakeholders, the statewide task force, and the core leadership team at YRS.
Provide TA to Tulsa and Oklahoma City sites.
CSG Justice Center staff met grantee at the National Mentoring Summit and discussed challenges with mentor recruitment, primarily from the DC area, and talked through some potential solutions.
CSG JC staff presented to the TN task force.
This will be the first of 5 meetings of the task force. The meeting discussion provided a brief history of how juvenile justice has been handled in Tennessee (operationally/state level/ local level/ courts/ etc.) for context. Senator Norris provided a national perspective - what other states are doing, how they are doing, results, etc, and trends in reform.?
CSG JC staff met with Policy Research Associates/NCMHJJ to reflect on the overall joint technical assistance experience and partnership, and identified some clear lessons learned through the support we received from PRA in being able to support grant recipients in improving behavioral health outcomes for youth in contact with the juvenile justice system.
