The CSG Justice Center staff conducted a site visit to Los Angeles as part of the Economic and Workforce Development Department's FY17 SCA Implementing County and Statewide Plans to Improve Outcomes for Youth in the Juvenile Justice Agencies System grant to accomplish the following:
CSG Justice Center staff traveled to Fulton County to engage with grant leadership and conduct a qualitative assessment of Fulton Counties Juvenile Justice Agencies System.
The CSG Justice Center met with Pennsylvania stakeholders to discuss the FY16?Implementation grant.? The in person technical assistance allowed for the convening of a task force that CSG will present to and guide detailed discussions regarding strengthening?aftercare policies and protocol.

The SRR?Grantee Training Conference. TA Provider spoke with team about the next phase of Implementation for CT, which focuses heavily on culture change. Grantee will begin their activities report (different than their process evaluation) reflecting on all the training and workgroup discussion from year 1 in September.?
The National Center for Lesbian Rights, in collaboration with the Center for Children's Law and Policy, will convene a group of juvenile justice stakeholders to develop a model policy governing services to transgender, gender non-conforming, and intersex youth in juvenile justice facilities.
Pilot program for 24 county jails in central Texas-- some rural, some urban-- to determine the scope of their PREA compliance, connect them with their local rape crisis centers, hold a one-day convening to facilitate conversations about best practices and barriers to PREA implementation, and create a toolkit that will provide Texas-specific best practices and lessons learned from the convening, that county jails across Texas can use to better implement PREA standards.
In June, Vera returned to the Angola facility for a training on compassion given by a local teacher for the Department and external stakeholders. This training allowed for greater understanding, empathy, and collaboration between incarcerated people, prison officials, and external individuals who care about continuing the reforms already begun in the LADOC system regarding conditions of confinement. Vera also continued working on the memo for the Department on the transition program and will send shortly.
