Tribal Courts

TLPI hosted a virtual Tribal TTA Overview for FY23 Adult Treatment Court Grantees. The overview included information on TLPI, the TTA process, resources including publications and website links. Lead TA Coaches also met with grantee in Zoom breakout rooms.

Held on July 17, 2024. This webinar was designed to provide practical strategies and insights for fostering effective collaborations to consider while developing Peacemaking courts/circles models. Participants learned how to enhance their peacemaking efforts through strong partnerships. Understanding the diverse experiences, views, and cultures of partners will help to create a safe environment for gaining consensus. Building and sustaining partnerships for peacemaking is crucial for ensuring long-term success in conflict resolution and community harmony.

Cher-Ae Heights Indian Community of the Trinidad Rancheria is a FY22 Adult Treatment Court - Tribal Healing to Wellness Court grantee.

Center staff met virtually with each FY24 grantee site one-on-one to assess their goals and needs. Center staff then conducted six interactive webinars for all new grantees discussing the essential elements required to successfully operate a community court program. New grantees were also invited to attend one of two regional community court convenings. TTA providers also worked with the sites to complete their Enhancement Checklists and Implementation Action Plans. TTA providers are currently working with the sites to finalize their Individualized TTA Plans.

NTCRC co-directors Dr. Christina Lanier and Dr. Kristen DeVall, NTCRC director of psychology Dr. Sally MacKain, and social science researcher Lindsay Baker gave four scheduled presentations and filled in for one additional presentation during All Rise's RISE24 conference in May 2024. The NTCRC has developed a relationship with the newly-formed Council of State Treatment Court Coordinators (CSTCC) in an effort to become more attuned to the needs of the treatment court field at the state and local levels. Collaboration has also included development of a webpage for this agency, hosted by the NTCRC, and progress towards a discussion platform for agency members.

The NTCRC operates several email inboxes for staff and designated projects. Staff field inquiries from treatment court practitioners as well as monitoring inbox-specific inquiries regarding the NTCRC, Painting the Current Picture survey, and Drug Court Review journal. Inquiries range from single-response questions to more labor-intensive continuous assistance or researching targeting information. Response times range from minutes to days depending on the level of inquiry.

In compliance with our BJA funding agreement, the NTCRC attended All Rise's RISE24 conference in-person in Anaheim, CA, sponsoring a booth at the exhibitor level. NTCRC staff traveled by plane and shipped materials to distribute at the booth. Eight full-time staff members attended the conference from Tuesday, May 22 to Friday, May 25. Staff were present at the booth for two and a half days to network with attendees, answer questions, and demonstrate resources available from the NTCRC.

During this reporting period, TLPI had one internal email regarding TTA. Contact for tribe on the TTA is on vacation. TLPI will follow up with them in a few weeks to check in on status of project.
