In August, CSG Justice Center staff continued to provide information and technical assistance to the Commission on Sentencing, the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts, the District Attorneys Association and General Assembly staff around justice reinvestment policies and impacts. Policies related to sentencing, supervision, and governance changes were reviewed and updated by key stakeholders to prevent anticipated and potential implementation challenges at the local level.
CSG Justice Center staff also continued to monitor discussions related to the state budget. General Assembly members are facing a large budget deficit and the prioritization of that issue means that policy proposals like justice reinvestment are not yet under active legislative review or consideration. CSG Justice Center staff continued to collaborate with criminal justice system stakeholders to keep them informed as policies are updated, so that once the budget challenges are addressed, the justice reinvestment proposals may be moved quickly to consideration.
