In July, CSG Justice Center staff spoke with with agency leaders to discuss transition plans following the JRI Coordinator’s announcement that he would be leaving the Governor’s Office for another position. CSG Justice Center staff also spoke with Sentencing Commission leaders regarding plans to transition the work of the JRI Coordinator to the Core Implementation Team made up of agency leaders who continue to meet regularly to coordinate on the completion of implementation tasks and monitor key policy trends and outcomes. The Governor has also expressed her interest and support for having the key agencies involved continue to work together to drive implementation forward.
CSG Justice Center staff also continued to monitor spend down of subaward funds. Nearly all of the staff trainings in evidence-based practices requested by agencies have been completed. In addition, IT staff of the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles have begun work on a new response matrix data collection application that is being built into the agency’s new in-house case management system. The Sentencing Commission also began working with research consultants to update the state’s prison population simulation model.
