The intent of this solicitation is to provide funds for communications activities (dialogue, education, and mobilization) and resource development efforts of national or regional scope impacting sexual abuse in confinement and or the implementation and sustainability of the Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards. Funded deliverable types include convenings or sponsored collaboration, publications, or other outreach activities. Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the funds are expended. The rolling application will allow time to develop innovative concepts and/or support opportunities as they arise. Although applicants are permitted to submit more than one application, each applicant is eligible for a maximum of three awards under this solicitation.
These funds are intended for entities that have the expertise to carry out grant activities with a national or regional impact. Eligible applicants are limited to any nonprofit organization, for-profit (commercial) organization (including tribal nonprofit or for-profit organizations), or institution of higher education (including tribal institutions of higher education) that have expertise and experience managing and developing communications and resources addressing corrections or criminal justice issues at the national or regional levels.

Kick-off meetings for Round I of the Competitive Announcement to Secure Prison Rape Elimination Act PREA Communications and Resource Development Mini-Grants were held November 1-3 with the five selected grantees. The PRC TTA Handbook was distributed to each.

The mini grant solicitation - Competitive Announcement to Secure Prison Rape Elimination Act PREA Communications and Resource Development Mini-Grants was released on June 13 and closed on August 31, 2017. In late September a formal Memo was sent to the PMO to request funding for five applicants. Funding levels for the first round of the rolling grant solicitation total $145,504. The applications recommended for the Corrections and Detention Stakeholder Partnerships and Targeted TTA lines total $100,000; bringing the combined total to $245,504.

Applicants were notified on April 13, 2018 regarding their prospective proposal: funded and non-funded notices were sent via the ZoomGrants online system.
Scheduled 1:1 meetings with Round I (TAASA, TMG, VRLC) and Round II (NCLR, WMI) Mini-Grant recipients in the first and second quarter of the calendar year. Each of the grantees continue to work thru their milestones and make progress toward their outcomes and final products. 1:1 Meetings will continue thru the end of this FY and thru March 2019 depending on their existing Agreements.
