In June, the justice reinvestment steering committee continued to meet and agencies further spent subaward funds. First, the steering committee had their monthly meeting. Along with reviewing implementation progress, the steering committee discussed data trends and ongoing issues with data reporting quality. The steering committee has asked the JR coordinator to remain in her role through September 30, extending her contract by two months at three-quarter time. This will allow the JR coordinator to provide support at the next Justice Reinvestment Implementation Coordinating Committee (JRICC) meeting at the end of August and continue subaward reporting.
Additionally, CSG Justice Center staff continued to monitor the spend down of the BJA subaward. The Administrative Office of Probation (AOP) held it’s judicial education event in early June. Additionally, CSG Justice Center staff approved budget modifications for AOP to change the vendor for their IT upgrade process and for Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) to use a portion of its funding for IT upgrades on integrating risk assessment into its case management system and strengthening parole decision-making guidelines processes through a modernization of disciplinary records tracking and reporting.
