Are you having money conversations with the justice-involved individuals you serve? The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), a U.S. government agency that makes sure banks, lenders, and other financial companies treat you fairly, developed Your Money, Your Goals financial empowerment toolkit to help frontline staff and volunteers have that conversation. And now they bring you a companion guide, Focus on Reentry, to help with financial challenges facing individuals pre- and post-reentry.
Join us for a webinar on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at 3:00pm to hear from Mary Griffin, Senior Advisor with the Office of Financial Empowerment at the CFPB and Inger Giuffrida, Trainer, ICF International, about how to use the financial empowerment toolkit and Focus on Reentry guide to help the justice-involved individuals you work with achieve their financial goals. The toolkit and Focus on Reentry guide are available at Your Money Your Goals
The toolkit and guide help you help the people you serve -
• Prioritize money challenges and goals – should they pay down debt or focus on saving for a down payment on an apartment?
• Understand their rights if they have criminal records in their background reports
• Prioritize debt, including criminal justice debt
• Order and fix credit reports
• Know their rights when a debt collector contacts them
• Avoid tricks and traps when choosing financial products
