In January, CSG Justice Center staff conducted one site visit to Montana for the release for the final report and to attend legislative hearings on justice reinvestment legislation. During the site visit, CSG Justice Center staff joined a bipartisan group of state legislators who held a press conference to release Montana's justice reinvestment report. Speakers at the press conference included Commission on Sentencing chair,Commission vice-chair, 52nd District Representative, District 30 Senator, and District 89 Representative Nate McConnell.
The Senate Judiciary Committee then held hearings on 9 of 12 bills over the course of two and a half days and CSG Justice Center staff provided informational testimony for each bill. Staff also met with various legislators to provide information on Montana's justice reinvestment process and answer questions.
