This grant is progressing as planned. The Moss Group has a key piece of the grant and will be providing a hands on facilitation going forward. The agency is moving toward a series of internal leadership summits that will be addressing various PREA related topics such as trauma informed care, culture, gender non conforming youth. The agency is very interested in applying to become a Trauma Informed entity that is sponsored by SAMSHA. Additionally, the agency has completed 6 audits to date. The Moss Group will also be assisting in the revisions to the training curriculum related to PREA.
The agency is expecting to ask for a no cost extension in order for their program evaluation contractor to complete the evaluation. The actual work in the grant will be accomplished by 9/30/17.
"Call with Adam Barnett 4/13/17. Adam emailed the progress report today. Budget modification was approved. One of the two PREA monitors was replaced after one resigned. The report also lists audits completed and audits scheduled. All have achieved PREA compliance. PREA Summit in Dec 2016 in which national guest speakers were brought in to present on different subject matters. One presentation was particularly impactful; it addressed generational differences when in comes to managing your facility and looking at gaps between traditional and generational work force. Very informative, surprisingly informative, as reported by Adam. Mara from TMG presented it. It helps to address alot of problems the agency is facing regarding retention of staff... baby boomers managing millennials; characteristics of work ethics between the 2 groups and the disconnect. Great feedback from attendees. It is tied into PREA largely because of the upcoming required staffing ratios and the agency's biggest issue meeting the ratios being retaining staff. They have been able to hire staff to accommodate the ratios but have to find a way to focus on retention.
The other grant goal is the software/data system. It is being designed to populate information into the DJJ data system. Brings data together from several different databases into the PREA Dashboard Mgmt system. The software is still in development; probably about half done. Will be beta testing in about 2 weeks. Are on target to finish to on time in August 2017."
