In September, site lead Melissa Threadgill and a CJI trainer traveled to Utah to give a two-day training to Utah Adult Probation and Parole (AP&P) and Institutional Programming staff in Principles of Effective Intervention (PEI) and Effective Case Management (ECM). Those receiving the training may become UT trainers in the PEI and ECM curriculum CJI’s training staff delivered. The curriculum and practice activities reflected the most recent research and were tailored to Utah’s policies and needs. DOC staff were inquisitive and involved during the training, and CJI received positive feedback. (See training evaluation, attached.)
The DOC staff who were trained in September will eventually become Trained Trainers, ensuring these trainings can be delivered to the full AP&P and Institutional Programming teams even after CJI’s TA ends. To become Trained Trainers, staff will receive further training in the fall.
In November, site lead Melissa Threadgill and two CJI trainers traveled to Utah to run a four-day train the trainer (TTT) session for Utah Adult Probation and Parole (AP&P) and Institutional Programming staff in Principles of Effective Intervention (PEI) and Effective Case Management (ECM). The curriculum and practice activities reflected the most recent research and were tailored to Utah’s policies and needs. Participants in the training were then certified as trainers in the PEI and ECM curriculum CJI’s training staff delivered. This ensures PEI and ECM trainings can be delivered to the full AP&P and Institutional Programming teams even after CJI’s TA ends. (Evaluations are attached as a deliverable)
