Trainings Preparation
Milestone Description

In March, during a meeting with the new Director of Adult Probation & Parole for the Department of Corrections, it was determined that Utah had a need for additional training on Graduated Responses, as well as a desire for a Training for Trainers (TTT) on Principles of Effective Intervention and Effective Case Management, to expand the state’s capacity to deliver those trainings to new staff in-house.

In June, CJI staff provided targeted technical assistance based on Utah’s immediate needs. This included preparing for upcoming trainings for Utah Adult Probation and Parole (AP&P) staff in Principles of Effective Intervention (PEI) and Graduated Reponses (GR), which will take place in July. Staff developed a PEI and GR curriculum, along with practice activities, tailored to Utah’s policies and needs. CJI staff worked with key contacts in Utah AP&P to ensure the training will fit their norms and requirements. This training will be Part I of a two-part Train the Trainer (TTT) process. (The second part will take place in August.)
