CSG Justice Center staff visited Old Pueblo's (OPCS) Adult Reentry mentoring program serving male and female state prisoners releasing to Pima County and residing in one of OPCS's transitional housing facilities. Site visit included one day of meeting key program staff and touring facilities, including the OPCS headquarters and many of their scattered site transitional housing facilities. These facilities include ones specific to women and veterans. Most are single, double, or triple occupancy converted apartments with shared kitchen and bathroom space, as well as shared public spaces such as yards, pools, or cookout areas. Also met with one of their local partners, Pima Prevention Partnership, who recently received an SCA Latino/a Youth Grant and also serves as an evaluation partner for OPCS and other Pima Co nonprofits. Second day included a tour of Arizona State Prison Complex- Tucson, including observing a new mentee intake and orientation. Afternoon of the second day was devoted to meeting mentor-mentee matches and meeting with the evaluation partner. Also included a lengthy sustainability discussion.
