On the orientation day Ta Providers?met with the Category 1 grantees for two different TA sessions. ?
The morning session included an introduction of TA providers; introduction of grantees and icebreaker to open up conversation; discussion of Stepping Up and review of the grant solicitation; general discussion of goals, progress and challenges facing their initiatives; the completion of a worksheet to help guide thinking around the initiative; and final debrief discussing takeaways from the work sheet.
The afternoon session started with a debrief about takeaways from the orientation day; we then discussed the importance of addressing the four key outcomes through their initiative, which are: reduce number of people with MI booked into jail, reduce ALOS for people with MI, increase connection to care, and reduce recidivism; reviewed the P&I guide with the grantees and answered questions; asked grantees to complete worksheets that asked questions related to the P&I guide; then had a final debrief to review the worksheets.
Grantees also attended our sessions on "System Mapping: What Comes Next?" and "Reducing the Prevalence of People with Mental Illnesses in Jails: Using Data to Demonstrate Progress" during the rest of the JMHCP conference. ?These sessions discuss issues on system mapping and data collection that are particular relevance to the Category 1 Grantees.
