MSU assisted the Research Partner from the WAW by providing resources for writing a PSN final report.
MSU assisted with Research Partner from the OHS by providing information and a link to the NTTAC TTA request process.
MSU provided James Chavis with an updated TA description for the PSN Manual.
MSU provided assistance on performance measures for the CAE Research Partner.
MSU provided information on some PSN site successes in response to a request from Bob Hood, APA.
MSU reviewed an annual report from the Research Partner in NE spotlighting PSN activities.
MSU responded to a request from IIR for recommendations on DMI speakers for the VRN Summit in Detroit. MSU suggested Dr. Corsaro, Captain Jones, and Lt. Hartman.
The Research Partner for the WAW asked for assistance with time series analysis. MSU put the RP and Dr. Corsaro in contact.
On September 23, 2015 at 3:00 pm, MSU successfully held the "Analyzing Your Violent Crime Problem" Webinar for over 140 participants.
MSU provided RPOC materials to the CAE Research Partner.
Ed McGarrell presented at the VRN Summit, September 28 - 30, 2015, Detroit, MI.
MSU is working on a Strategic Action Plan example to fulfill a request from the WAW and CAE Research Partners.
MSU received notice of the new PSN TTA Provider award.
MSU received the unfortunate news of James Chavis' passing. MSU is working with BJA on the transition of a new BJA POC.
MSU is creating a PSN newsletter and welcome letter for the newly funded PSN sites.
Ed Banks will be the PSN POC. MSU will work with Ed to get the new grant underway.
A social service provider in Chattanooga contacted MSU asking for assistance with identifying a research partner.
MSU provided Ed Banks multiple PSN documents including a frequently asked questions on choosing a Research Partner, Research Partner qualifications, and a summary of PSN training.
Ed Banks provided MSU with contact information and site proposals for the new FY15 sites. MSU will begin making contact with the sites.
This period witnessed continued efforts to validate the Violence Reduction Assessment Tool (VRAT). This included ongoing work with data from New York State’s GIVE initiative whereby VRAT assessment data were compared to independent assessments by GIVE technical assistance providers. Additionally, VRAT feedback forms were developed. The experience with the GIVE grant programs supported refinements to the VRAT.
MSU began developing a Strategic Action Plan (SAP) template.
The initial PSN Newsletter was developed and disseminated.
A webinar on Analyzing the Crime Problem was provided by SME Julie Wartell with an introduction by Ed McGarrell. The webinar was archived on the PSN website.
Additional refinements were made to the PSN website and additional resources were added to the website.
Significant progress was made with assisting BJA on GrantStat. See the GrantStat TA reporting entry for full details.
Ed McGarrell presented at the Association of Prosecuting Attorney's conference in November. His presentation on violence reduction efforts in partnership with researchers was very well received.
Heather Perez attended Lisc's Combining Revitalization and Community Safety webinar in December.
Heather Perez attended the SPI presentation, "Criminology 102: Busted Myths in Criminology" webinar in December.
MSU received notice of PSN's acceptance as a promising practice on CrimeSolutions.gov.
Heather Perez had a conversation with Laurel Boatright in Atlanta. Laurel informed Heather of the updates and progress with the DMI in English Avenue. The neighborhood has experienced much improvement. The CCI will conduct and evaluation of the DMI in Atlanta.
Heather Perez presented on PSN, VRAT, DMI, RPOC, and Fellows Academy at the CSG hosted Justice and Mental Health and Second Chance Act conference in December.
