"The NRCJIW will host a two-part webinar series on August 17 and 24, 2015 to acquaint teams from the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (NYDOCCS) and the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC) with the research that supports gender responsive practices with women, the twelve GIPA domain areas that should be considered to improve practices with women, and the GIPA tool and process. The primary purpose of the webinars is to prepare the teams for the conduct of a formal GIPA self-assessment within their own agencies. A NRCJIW coach has been assigned to each state to assist them in the preparation and conduct of the GIPA assessment. Onsite technical assistance and the GIPA assessment will occur following the webinars in August.
During this first webinar, presenters will discuss the training and technical assistance to be delivered; provide an introduction to gender responsive principles and research; introduce the purpose and use of the GIPA, and describe the twelve GIPA domains and their implications for practice. Webinar participants will be expected to complete an assignment following the first webinar as preparation for their participation in the second webinar.
