- In December of 2013 the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet submitted a 2 part TTA request related to ACA and Medicaid Expansion. Part one of the request was a one day training for the agency and its state and local constituents related to the public safety opportunities available now that the state has expanded Medicaid. Part two would include working with the KY DOC, DJJ and DPA on integrating enrollment into their work. In response NCJA has submitted a proposal to BJA for review.

On July 18th NCJA and JPSC held a one day training for 165 state and local justice stakeholders on opportunities available through Medicaid expansion. Attendees heard from national leaders from the National Institute of Corrections, The National Criminal Justice Association and TASC. In addition there was a host of statewide and local speakers who presented on a wide range of topics related to enrollment efforts, Medicaid funded behavioral health interventions and some level setting presentation on the current administration of Medicaid at the state and local level. In addition to the aforementioned presentations speakers heard about TTA opportunities and statewide community organizing efforts related to leveraging Medicaid expansion for improved reentry.
