Conduct a site visit on August 13-14, 2014 to the Benedict Center in Milwaukee, WI, to assist them in developing an action plan in response to a recent CPC report and in compliance with gender responsive principles.
Dr. Marilyn Van Dieten presented an overview of the literature on evidence based practices in corrections, research on women in corrections, and reviewed the results of the Correctional Program Checklist as well as the Gender Responsive Policy and Practice Assessment the staff conducted in July. Staff met with Dr. Van Dieten to establish some strategic planning goals to address issues raised in the CPC and GRPPA and also received training on the use of the Service Planning Instrument for Women as a risk/needs assessment was a major area that the program wanted to incorporate to become more strategic in reducing recidivism through collaborative case planning.
