The Rochester Police Department conducted a peer exchange with the Omaha Police Department to learn about the impressive Omaha 360 program and its impact on reducing violent crime. After introductions, the Rochester team expressed their eagerness to understand Omaha 360’s collaborative approach to community engagement and crime reduction. The Omaha team provided an overview of the program, highlighting its impressive network of over 500 organizations and 5,000 resident participants. Omaha 360, spearheaded by the Empowerment Network in partnership with the Omaha Police Department, has significantly contributed to the city’s success in reducing violent crime. The Rochester team attended the weekly Omaha 360 collaborative meeting, witnessing firsthand the engagement of over 100 community members and the Omaha chief of police. This weekly meeting exemplifies the program’s commitment to open communication and community partnership in addressing crime and safety concerns. This peer exchange provided valuable insights for the Rochester Police Department, demonstrating the potential of collaborative initiatives like Omaha 360 to create safer and more resilient communities.
