The South Salt Lake Community Court is in the early stages of development, currently offering voluntary services while preparing for a formal launch. Drawing on insights from a site visit to Boulder, they are refining strategies for structuring charges, defining the role of an on-site clinician, and improving data collection and communication. The court has seen increased attendance from the homeless population, with participants spreading the word and encouraging others to join, fostering a sense of community. New case managers are collaborating effectively with local shelters, while strong partnerships with the police department and ongoing discussions with the prosecutor’s office are helping to finalize eligible charges and secure program support. Monthly core team meetings address concerns with shelter outreach and prosecution, and well-received participant gift bags have been introduced. Attendance fluctuates due to weather, prompting efforts to improve responsiveness. The court is currently working to apply for the 2025 Housing Justice Peer Network at the Center’s recommendation.
