Objective 6: Provide intensive TA to 10 states, supporting the adoption and use of the Justice Counts metrics to drive decision-making. CSG Justice Center staff completed outreach to participating agencies via email to include an update on progress on Justice Counts participation per each state.??
In Indiana, CSG Justice Center staff were on site at the beginning of the month to present at 2024 Fall Conference for the Probation Officers Professional Association of Indiana and also to present to the Marion County Justice Reinvestment Advisory Councils (JRAC), and to meet with the JRACs for Floyd and Monroe Counties as well as Indiana Community Corrections and then later in the month again to meet with the Scott County Sheriff's Office. Off-site, CSG Justice Center staff also met with the Clark County JRAC to discuss goals for data sharing and how to create a cohort of agencies in their county?and to provide technical assistance through the onboarding process to the Allen County Commissioner's Office, Tipton County Probation, Marion County Community Corrections, Johnson County Court Services, Clark County Probation & Supervision, and the Owen County Court Services. The conversations covered goals for data usage, metric configuration, and data sharing in Publisher. CSG Justice Center staff also introduced the project to the Martin County JRAC. In September the Tipton County JRAC, Tipton County Court services, and Johnson County Court Services opted in.??
In Iowa, CSG Justice Center staff were on site where they met with the Polk County Criminal Justice Coordinating Council, the Altoona Police Department, the Mitchellville Police Department and a Des Moines City Councilman. The Mitchellville Police Department opted in during the meeting and the Councilman agreed to be a Justice Counts champion in Des Moines. ??
In Missouri, CSG Justice Center met with the Andrew County Prosecuting Attorney's Office and additional staff from the St. Charles Police Department to introduce the project. The Andrew County, Montgomery County, and Henry County Prosecuting Attorneys Offices opted in and scheduled their first onboarding session. CSG Justice Center staff also provided technical assistance to the Cole County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Bolivar Police Department, the Morgan County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Andrew County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Phelps County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Buchanan County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Vernon County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, the Johnson County District Attorney's Office, and the Ripley County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. The conversations covered goals for data sharing, metric configuration and the mechanics of using Publisher, as well as to review data sharing in Publisher by Karpel on behalf of the agencies. Additionally, CSG Justice Center staff connected via email with the Acting Director of the Missouri Department of Corrections to test language currently being used to describe the Fairness Metrics as part of the final design approval process for the Justice Counts Prisons Agency Dashboard. Lastly, over 30 prosecution agencies signed data use agreements with Justice Counts to allow CSG Justice Center staff to work with the vendor Karpel to extract data on behalf of those agencies, resulting in significant data shared.?
In New Mexico, New Mexico Sentencing Commission shared 5 years of data for Prisons Admissions, Releases, and Supervision Revocations on behalf of NM DOC and CSG Justice Center staff uploaded FY2024 admissions and daily population data for all 29 jails in New Mexico as part of the New Mexico Association of Counties project.??
In Ohio, CSG Justice Center staff introduced the project to the Euclid Police Department and met with the Akron Police Department Independent Monitor to discuss criminal justice data in Akron.?CSG Justice Center staff also had a monthly check in call with the Franklin County Office of Justice Policy and Programs to discuss the Justice Counts project in the county and agency outreach.??
In Pennsylvania, CSG Justice Center staff provided technical assistance on Publisher to the Dauphin County District Attorney's Office and connected with the Director of Research and Statistics at the Pennsylvania Department of Corrections to test language currently being used to describe the Fairness Metrics as part of the final design approval process for the Justice Counts Prisons Agency Dashboard.?
In Washington, CSG Justice Center staff presented to the Washington Administrative Office of the Courts Pre-Trial Summit 2024 alongside the Criminal Justice Regional Program Manager for the Thurston County Board of County Commissioners using snapshots of Thurston County data to introduce the project to other courts in Washington.?CSG Justice Center staff met off-site with Snohomish County Prosecuting Attorney's Office to reconnect and discuss ways Justice Counts could provide value.?
