This reporting period, on September 18, Center staff Sheila McCarthy in collaboration with Center’s Tribal Justice Exchange team presented at the Tribal Law and Policy Institute’s (TLPI) annual Tribal Healing to Wellness Court Implementation and Enhancement Training in Phoenix, Arizona. The presentation titled “Veterans Treatment Courts: National Trends, Promising Practices, and Considerations for Tribal Adaptations” highlighted lessons learned from the field that are unique to the veteran population and the solutions developed in response. It also explored the unique opportunities for working with veterans through a healing to wellness court model and provided examples and considerations from the field for implementation and adaptation.
