CSG Justice Center staff conducted an in-person site visit with the FY22 JMHCP County of Richland, SC, grantee on August 22-23, 2024. Our data consultant from IJIS was able to join both days of the site visit in person to help the grantee overcome some of the barriers they are facing around data collection and information sharing. On the first day of the visit, the CSG Justice Center staff led discussions around outlining the project scope to better distill goals for their data project and identify their key data priorities. This included a session with all key stakeholders to gather perspectives on the developing project scope and learn more about the current processes and gaps in services/programs for people with behavioral health needs in the Richland County jail. The data consultant also led a session to help identify and navigate any information-sharing barriers that exist between stakeholders to help move their planning process forward. The grantee also led CSG Justice Center staff on a tour of Transitions Homeless Center, a shelter with food and supportive services. The second day of the site visit focused on developing a revised timeline for the grantee to determine the next steps necessary for project planning, as well as outlining the beginnings of a data collection plan for the grantee to continue to build out.
