The coach reviewed and revised implementation goals and timeline to be consistent with budget. All grant strategies do not fit into the budget since estimates were confirmed for the jail management system, updated computers/monitors, additional cameras, and attendance at the PREA Coordinators Conference in July. An email was sent to the Sheriff, Chief, Acting Facility Administrators, Lt. Colonel, PREA Coordinator and Grant Administrator to review and approve. The PC salary and two-day PREA Specialized Investigations Conference exceed available grant funds.
The budget and program GAMs were submitted to JustGrants but have not been approved. BJA requested grantee modify the GAM's narrative to meet BJA's requirements. The coaches provided extensive guidance on developing the budget and program GAM's and providing information BJA requested for approval.
The PC and PREA Investigator will attend the PREA Coordinator's Working Group Conference on July 22-25, 2024.
Youthful offenders continue to be housed with adult offenders. Site contacts shared a dedicated/separate housing for youthful offenders is in the plans for the new jail. No date for the construction of the jail has been set.
All new hires receive four hours of PREA training and will receive annual PREA refresher training thereafter.
