On 05-06-24, a video conference was conducted with TLPI, project partner, NAICJA, and Cher-Ae Heights to discuss and review the TTA Needs Assessment.

TTA Needs Assessment Snapshot Cher-Ae Heights:
Goals from narrative: Incorporation of the culture and traditions of the tribe into all programs, including the justice system. Expand tribal court jurisdiction and integration of the culture and traditions of the tribe. Expansion of the tribal court's jurisdiction with the development and implementation of new ordinances and revision of current ordinances. Peacemaking and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Fully implement peacemaking into all tribal laws and pass on the knowledge to tribal youth. The retention of core tribal court staff and peacemakers is included within these purposes.

From TTA Needs Assessment answers:
Do not have P&P to assist staff with guidance on project purpose and practices for project goals and objectives;
Need training for new or current staff;
Data collection and information sharing strategies;
Training Tribal justice professionals (judges, clerks, administrators, etc.);
Court security;
Developing Self-Help websites;
Developing Self Help/Pro Se Forms, (have a contracted attorney);
Alternative/Restorative sentencing options;
Circle Keeping and Peacemaking Facilitator Training;
Establishing other restorative justice systems, processes, practices,
alternatives to incarceration;
